Adam's Matt Glass a Very Good Scratch Resistance too

Many people like to have Matte display rather than glossy one on their notebooks.Once there was a time few people used to buy Dell instead of Aplle for Matte glass display.....After hearing from many people apple introduce Matte display to few of their product segments also.

Matte is known for its no reflection and glossy for its resistance to scratch.
Its good to hear Notion Ink uses Matte display and its exciting that they make it much resistance to scratch.

Find out the picture where a Matte vs Glossy Glass is compared in Mac books by Engadget...the right one being 17 inch matte and left one 15 inch glossy finish display.

Rohan in his latest weekend post informed us about the following

We told you how much we love Matt (that’s one reason why all the monitors here are from Dell). We have invested a lot of time in figuring out the right surface values which gives the perfect combination of 2 worlds (no reflection property of matt and scratch resistant property of glossy surface). But the first question: “Why every other device we see is Glossy and not matt?” The answer lies in the surface property. In general you can say that glossy surfaces along with giving better photograph of the device for marketing and shelf view, gives scratch-less experience (for its defined life time). And that is very much required. If your surface is rough (matt), it will be susceptible to scratches cos now when you drag a sharp object on it, it will have something to drag along, and leave a mark behind. All of this makes designing matt surfaces for touch screen extremely difficult and costly.

Here is the image of the 3 tests which I did for you this morning (Adam is using the improved version of the last one shown here)

Video : Notion ink Adam vs iPAD vs Kindle

A video comparison beteen Adam iPAD and Kindle is doing rounds in internet these days, showing the capabilities of ADAM clearly. As my opinion there is no need to compare Adam to Kindle at all.

Check out the video anyway here...

Notion Ink Adam at CES 2010

This video was when Notion ink appeared in CES 2010.Many wondered seeing this great gadget at that time, especially with its Pixel Qi screen and referred it as iPAD killer in many sites seeing its potential.

But the only bad thing happened from then is the delay in its launch as expected at that time, but still its features design and specs rock.....

Hoping it releases as soon as possible.

Does Notion Ink Adam Hit FCC upto now?

One of the major concern from starting for Notion Ink Tablet is Release date and its delay.Rohan indicated that it will release before Christmas or not.I heard that generally FCC takes more than 4 weeks for approval. So if thats the case i hope Notion ink Adam was already submitted at the FCC.The good news as said by rohan is they already got the approval for chargers.

It still seems that Notion Ink hasn't hit the shelves of FCC(not sure),as there is no update regarding this from Rohan.Engadget also giving some details of devices hitting FCC every friday, but there is no adam's name in it and its questionable whether engadget covers all or not.Rohan said that they are expecting it to get the FCC approval by early 20's of December so that they can start selling. But such a close date to Christmas means it still seems doubtful for its release before Christmas. But,lets hope the best happens for Notion Ink in the launch of their product and have a smooth launch before Christmas as Rohan said and make a merry Christmas to all those waiting for it.

ADAM BOOT SCREEN :

Notion Ink Adam Coming with 20 Preloaded Tablet Customized Apps :)

Notion Ink has managed to keep the initial interest in its upcoming tablet alive for nearly 11 months — no mean feat considering the fact that we have had tablet announcements ad nauseam during this period.? This is also despite the fact that the Adam has been plagued by delays. However, to its credit, Notion Ink has utilized this time well by sharing bits and pieces about the slate on a regular basis.

Notion Ink, made famous for its Pixel-Qi display on the Adam tablet, has announced in addition to the device’s interface updates that the Adam will launch pre-loaded with 20 tablet-optimized apps. Rival Samsung had launched the Galaxy Tab with a number of re-tooled apps with a tablet user experience complete with panes that make use of the tablet’s larger display. For the Adam, Notion Ink will have tablet-ready versions of email, calendar, paint, gallery, settings, a file browser, and Office suite that makes use of the company’s Eden UI, which will offer three panes, or windows, to make use of the 10-inch touchscreen. The Notion Ink Adam will be available for pre-order this December.
